Balder is the most beloved of the Norse gods — son of Odin and Frigg. He lives with his wife Nanna in Breidablik, a heavenly place on the edge of Asgard where nothing impure can enter.

He is good through and through, loved by gods, mortals, animals, trees, rocks, and even the usually hostile giants. His name means “Shining One”.

Balder is killed by a single sprig of mistletoe, thrown by his blind brother Hod and guided by Loki, in an act that begins the long chain of events leading to Ragnarök.

The illustration is from the book Norse Gods.

This poster is available in three sizes — 30×40 cm / 12×16″, 50×70 cm / 20×28″, and 70×100 cm / 28×40″. Printed on semi-glossy, 170 gsm (65 lb) paper, FSC-certified or equivalent for sustainability.
